For full features; Go to 1994 Pathfinder Cb Mounting Location
Me again! This is on the 1994 Pathfinder 4X4 sports package. I'm trying to
come up with ideas, locations, etc of where to mount a cobra 25 ltd classic
cb radio and a firestik antenna.
The "console" of this pathfinder is one of the worse designs I have ever
seen, so if by chance the designer of it is reading this, kick yourself
cause its a useless console. :orglaugh: Can't really go under the dash,
cause well, the dash completely flows down and forms the "console", I've
thought about just cutting it all out and making all new custom to fit my
needs. I mean, its only the toy of the group of vehicles I got, so why
not?
Oh, and with regards to the antenna.. I'd like to NOT put anymore holes in
this thing than it already has and the under the side of the hood mounts
just aren't for me, neither is the ball mount. Mirror mounts are pointless(
I don't have the right type of side mirrors ). So, thats what we got to
work with here.
Okay, take it away.

As for the antenna, a mag mount can be stuck anywhere, but be careful, if
the paint is dirty when you put it on it will damage the paint, so clean it
good and give it a good coat of wax and repeat periodicaly. As for an
antena that doesn't have its own ground you need to ground it. Idealy, for
the best quality signal, you would mount it in the center of a large panel
near or at the top of the vehicle. If you have a roof rack, you best option
may be a twin antenna and mount one on each side (driver and passenger
sides) of the roof rack, just be sure they are grounded. Other options
include units that are self gounded that you can stick anywhere, including
plastic mirrors, or if you have metal bumpers, attach it to the bumper, or
they also sell the ones that you stick on the glass, but don't ask me how
well thay work.
As to where to put the cb, options include:
1. attaching it to the side of the center console, so it is facing upward,
near where the passengers knees would be.
2. if there is a glove box in front of the passenger, take the door off and
put it in there kindof at an angle facing the driver.
3. if having it stick out like a sore thumb isn't a problem, just attach it
on top of the dash toward the center of the car so you can still see where
you are going.
4. if there is room, you could do like truckers do and mount it over your
head.

Ah, see now.. I didn't think about over head.. I did think about the glove
box.. And as for magnet mount, I won't go that route. I've had them before
and if by any chance you get limbs or strong strong wind.. and that thing
slides.. ugh.. bye bye paint. I think Im going to mount one using a mirror
mount bracket on the rear spare tire carrier, right in the center. Seems
like a neat place, almost making it look like a remote control suv. ( Don't
we all wish )
SillyLights
just be sure it is grounded good, if it is one of the ones on a hinge you
might want to run a ground wire between the tire mount and the body just to
be certain it is grounded well, or you will get a lot of static and
noise.
as far as the remote control SUV, did you ever hear of the ripsaw?
dvdrose18
You talking about that unmanned tank thing?
SillyLights
that would be the one
