For full features; Go to 98 Fiesta - Over revving when clutch is in
Hi there,
I am new to this forum and new to cars (only had 5 driving lessons!), but
would like to learn more as I hate garages and don't trust them at all.
My girlfriend has a 98 Fiesta 1.3 petrol. It's had an intermittent fault
for a while now where it would over rev when the clutch is in (and not
touching the accelerator) and take ages to come back down to normal revs,
but the fault has not got much worse and much more regular. I've been told
(and by doing some googling) that it could well be the TPS and that I
should try and clean it or replace it.
My question is, how would I go about finding the TPS? Would anyone have any
photos or diagrams? I think I know what it looks like; I just don't know
where to look to find it :P
Thanks,
Drew

Go to the parts store, buy one, look at the throttle body and find the part
that looks like the one you have in your hand, replace it.

If it is the Throttle Position Sensor, and if memory serves me, they are
easy to replace and are right above/behind the air filter box.

You can go spend about 20 - 30 dollars on a book at a parts store that will
tell you everything you need to know about that car. If you're wanting to
learn, thats the way to go. It also has all the diagrams and pictures you'd
need to do any job. Good luck
