Car running rough fuel going into back barrels at idle

Hows it going. Ok first of all I have a 74 Corvette with a 400sb and turbo 350 out of a 73 monte carlo. The motor has been mildly built with a small cam(cannot remember the size but it should not be the cause of the problem I am having). The car has been running rough ever since I bought it a month ago. At first it would not idle unless I kept my foot on the gas at least at or over 1000 rpm. It started to get better every now and then. Also a huge factor is when the car is sitting at idle gas is bubbling into the back barrels with the engine warm or cold(I am thinking this is the cause to all my problems, loading up). It has also had a problem at low speed when I give it gas small amounts or large mostly large it sputters and sometimes stalls. It originally had a edelbrock 750 carb on it with man choke and vac 2nd's. I put a holley 600 with ele choke and vad 2nd's hoping to fix the problem. Once I put the holley on all problems went away(for a short time). Now the only problem I have is the gas is bubbling into the back barrels causing the car not to idle,it spits and sputters. This happens at idle and for around 10 or so seconds after I shut down the car. I thought maybe a pressure regulator might help. The car has a manual fuel pump installed. Both carbs have been recently rebuilt so that shouldn't be the problem. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated. posted by  on1wheel01

yep sounds like a fuel pressure regulator all right. does it have a fuel return line? posted by  DARKtEAGLE

No return line, it looks like the stock style mechanical pump. posted by  on1wheel01

Fuel pressure regulator on a '73???? :screwy: posted by  thefonz

Yea I didn't think they came with one. But wondering if one could help I've tried many things. A guy at work suggested a stuck valve(but I can't see that). Maybe a inline reg could help I dunno. posted by  on1wheel01
