I'm having a problem with fifth ave. It goes from running really high when
it is first started to running really ruff when it is up to temp. I have
played with the carb for a few weeks and thought I had the problem fixed
but a few days later it was back to running ruff agian. I was thinking of
taking to a shop but the shops around where I live tell me it's an average
of 60 bucks just to have them look at it. I truely need some help with this
and I will be greatly appreciate any tips you can give me. THANK YOU!!!

until we know more about the car and it's issues, all we can do is make
uneducated guesses.

The only other thing I can think of is I replaced the fuel filter and done
a tune up on it but I have checked to make sure the plugs are gapped to the
right gap still. Here lately it's been dying on me when ever it gets to
temp and I slam on the gas ( which is something I have stopped doing ).
Never thought about checking the O2 sensor.

Sorry it's a 2 barrel carb. but if I can figure out what's wrong with it I
plan on putting a 4 barrel on it.

Most likely, you have a Holley 6280 2bbl electronic feedback carburetor.
This means the metering jets are controlled by some sort of solenoid driven
by a pulsed signal from the ECM. The timing of this pulse signal is
calculated based on O2 levels measured by the O2 sensor. The system goes
into closed loop when engine temp reaches about 150F.
If I were troubleshooting the car, I would pull the trouble codes - 1980's
vintage Chryslers have the capability of primitive level diagnostics.
I would verify the electric choke and associated unloaders were working,
verify the coolant temp sensor is good and verify O2 sensor operation for
starters.

I have searched this car up, down and side to side and can't seem to find
the O2 sensor. Does anyone know where I might find it???
Adonis
O2 sensors are located in the exhaust system between the exhaust manifold
and catalytic converter
Haynes publication 30050 (Repair Manual) is a good starting point if more
specific information about component locations then this general
information is required

More info from the poster is good.
For folks whom were not born or were toddlers when this car was built, the
1987 5th Avenue has a 318 C.I.D. V8 which was used in many larger Chrysler
cars and pick-up trucks from the mid/late 1960s for almost 30 yrs in some
variation. The most recent variants including the 1987 5th avenue used 2
bbl feedback carburaters while earlier models of the 318 used many
different carburaters including the Carter BBD (served many cars in several
different variants) and a several carbs by Holly with an occasional GM
Rochester and a Stromburg being found. Later variants of the 318 used
various fuel injection systems

I replaced the O2 sensor and it is still acking up. I did notice that I
have fuel coming out from around the seal on the carb. I am not experinced
with carbs. Can anyone tell me how hard it would be to replace the seal in
my carb??? I'm not sure what type of carb it is and I wish I could supply
you with more info. ANY INFO would be helpfull.
Adonis
One more thing, I would like to thank everyone who has helped me with all
the info. Thank You agian!!!
Adonis
the identification is either stamped on the body or on a metal plate
attached to the carburetor. Most likely, it is a variant of a Holly
6280
Not knowing exactly where the leak is coming from, I cant answer the
question.
Rebuilt carburetors are available from auto parts stores for between $200
and $300 + exchange and may be a good option to consider since you admitted
you don't know much about carburetors and rebuilding one can be tricky and
is outside the tools/equipment of a typical home mechanic
