Idle Problem
I have a '92 Geo Tracker, and other than this idle problem (and the fact that the speedometer cable is sticky so the speed jumps) it is in perfectly good condition. What happens is when it warms up and the idle kick-down comes on, it only goes from 2100 to 1500. But thats not the problem, its that I can't adjust the idle speed because ocassionaly it does go and idle properly at 700-800RPM. Oh an should mention that my alternator is probably on its way out since if I turn my heat on full all my dash lights dim a little bit and slowly get dimmer...so I know the alternator is almost gone but I'm not changing it since I am going to get a new car soon anyways. But I want to fix the idle problem before I sell it.
What no one else knows either?
if u know the alternator is bad replace it, then if the problem isn't fixed go from there.
Didn't I just say that I didn't want to replace the alternator? There is no use putting $200 into it only to sell in 2-3 months when its only worth maybe $4000
