Choices choices choices...
Here's my next swap idea for the 95 Beretta. I know the 3800SC has been
done before. Not very popular, but it's been done. the 3900 6-speed manual
swap has never been done. The 3800SC and tranny would obviously be out of a
GP GTP or Bonniville SSEI or if I'm lucky enough to find one, a Regal GS.
However, the 3900 AWD 6-spd would be out of a Chevy Malibu Maxx. I think
there's another sub-model for it too, but I still don't remember. Here's
some specs:
3800SC
supercharged 12-valve ohv V6
Engine Size 3.8 liters / 231 cu. in.
Horsepower 240 @ 5200 rpm
Torque (lb-ft) 280 @ 3200 rpm
Malibu Maxx specs:
Wheelbase 112 "
3.9L OHV V6 VVT (LZ9)
Valvetrain:OHV, 2 valves per cylinder, continuously variable valve
timing
Horsepower: 240 @ 5900 rpm
Torque: 241 @ 2800 rpm
95 Z26 specs:
3.1L V6
155BHP@5200RPM
185 FT-LB @ 4000RPM
Wheelbase: 103.4"
Once again, here's why I'm posting this. Now, I know it's my car but I need
some opinions. The great thing about the 3900 is it's VERY unique and it's
never been done before. However, the 3800SC has been done, but still kinda
unique. Also, I personally KNOW people who have done the swap and they
could give me some hints on how to do it. Reguardless the car is getting a
full tube frame and 7 bar rollcage. Maybe T-tops should I choose to really
get into the custom fab. Now, which swap do you guys think would shock
people more?
Also, the car is a 4-speed auto currently. With the 3900 I'd also have to
do some cutting/mounting for the clutch hardware/lines/pedal etc.
Opinions? I'm so torn. Of course, none of this will be done until I move.
